Mutt Jones and the Sinking Franchise of Doom

Okay, let me say this right off the bat: I’m one of the biggest defenders of The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull.  Having said that, I dunno how to feel about this bombshell.  Shia LeBeof has spilled the beans in a recent BBC interview that Steven Spielberg has come up with a story to launch a likely series of Indy Jr. flicks.

It seemed pretty obvious that Skull ended with a hand-off to Mutt, but Spielberg and Lucas played coy about it.  Like Crush Groove before it, time’s gonna tell on this one.

Oh, and with Transformers, they’re making films about “toys – this isn’t The Elephant Man.”  Well, no, not if you don’t allow it to be.  Get Simon Furman to write the script (hell, he’s responsible for the sequel’s title character), and any director worth his salt, and watch the Oscars roll in.

  1. ENOUGH LABEOUF!! :P

I thought second half of Crystal Skull was pretty lame, and damn near vomited when it looked like Mutt was going to put on Indy’s fedora at the end. The idea of a spin-off series featuring LaBeouf as Indy Jr would be eyeroll-worthy to say the least.

And I agree about TFs 100%. There’s no reason it CAN’T be an epic story. Read Furman’s G1 comic run from issue 56 to 80 and you’ll see just how action packed AND highly dramatic Transformers can be. Not to mention that the Transformers themselves are the focal point of the story, with the humans being the peripheral characters.

    This man speaks the gospel.
