I’ve been waiting for this movie since it was previewed in the trailers for 300 in 2007. So to say the least I had high hopes for this movie…and in more ways than not it delivers!!!

There’s rules to horror movies ok! Everyone who’s watched Wes Cravens, Scream knows this. Yet few know the rules for Halloween, and here they are.

  1. Never walk alone
  2. Never blow out a jack o lantern
  3. Always check your candy
  4. Always stay on sidewalks

So if you break these rules my friends you’ll find yourself in deep poop! The anti-hero of the movie is Sam (great name by the way). He’s a little kid (or so you think) who you don’t want to run into on any night but especially Halloween. There’s 4 interwoven tails and Sam is in each one. The movie ends with the beginning and begins with the end, so its sorta been done before but the way its shot is genius! Dylan Baker, Anna Paquin, and Brian Cox deliver amazing performances in each of the story’s there in. The film is highly influenced by old Twilight Zone episodes so if you get spooked by suspense you’ll love Trick r Treat.

Ok drive-inn totals!!!

  • 4 breasts
  • 16 dead bodies ( pay attention)
  • 300 pumpkins
  • 7 zombies
  • 1 werewolf orgy
  • Poison candy
  • Shotgun fu
  • Knife fu
  • Lollipop fu(trust me its awesome)
  • Grave digging
  • Pumpkin smashing
  • Strip teasing

And let me just say Anna Paquin can be my little red riding hood any day!!! Her performance is so sick it made me have to think about baseball just to calm down. Too much info huh?

This flick is the best so far I’ve reviewed. The make up and CGI effects are phenomenal and the acting and filming are superb! It might not scare the life outta you but Trick r Treat will have you wondering if there’s a sequel. Oh did I mention it has one of the best werewolf transformation scenes ever!!! Well it does damnit! So pick this up fast because it took me a day and a half trying to find this thing, all Best Buys in my area were sold out. Again let me just say that if you loved Tales from the Crypt or even to a lesser extent Creepshow, Trick or Treat is a must!

The special features are pretty decent and the alternate scenes give you a little more depth to the charecters. I recommend the blue ray over the dvd just for the quality alone.

Enjoy this movie on Halloween or any night you want a good fright.

Till next time horror hound
