Quite possibly one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen on the net. A friend of mine (Leo) told me about this and man do I feel stupid for taking so long to finally sit down and watch it. This is a demo reel/ short film made by some guy in the Netherlands. He is not a film major nor is he taking any classes for film. He is actually a physics major. He taught himself how to do CGI effects on his PC. This guy is a true amateur. The only other time I was this blown away by something I saw on the net was the Haloid video (also done by a self taught amateur), and this movie leaves that one in the dust. In the nine minutes that we see here you are instantly hooked and so many questions are raised. The most prevelant one being, what’s in the box? That question is never answered I’m sorry to say, but at the same time it’s one of those things that makes this so great.

The film was put together for 150 Euros (roughly $210 USD), if you can believe that. The young unintentional film maker has been approached by 20th Century Fox regarding his short film. According to my friend Leo the last he heard was that Warner Bros. had bought the rights to make the movie. The creator said he does have an idea for a longer version that will unravel the story he has created here. He sees the movie running about 90 minutes and it would all be in that “first person” type of format. You can learn more about the film maker by watching an interview with him below. Be sure to turn on the CC by clicking on the bottom right box to see the english subtitles.
