We’re going back to the well people! You had to see this coming with the success of Avatar over these past few weeks. The only real question I have is if Lucas is pissed off that Cameron beat him to the punch.
At a Golden Globes party this past Sunday Lucas talked to Access Hollywood about a 3-D treatment of his Star Wars Franchise. To which Lucas replied, with the success of “Avatar”, his own “Star Wars” film series will likely get an upgrade and re-release in 3D. Lucas was also asked what he thought about James Cameron’s Avatar:
“I liked it. I make movies like that, so I can appreciate what James Cameron went through to do it. I’m happy it’s so successful, and worked very well in 3-D. Haven’t been a big fan of 3-D, but that movie definitely improves in 3-D”
He went on to admit that they’ve been looking at converting his Star Wars films to 3-D:
“We’ve been looking for years and years and years of trying to take ‘Star Wars’ and put it in 3-D. But, the technology hasn’t been there. We’ve been struggling with it, but I think this will be a new impetus to make that happen.”
