So we know that the dudes that wrote Zombieland have written a script for a Deadpool film. We know that Ryan Reynolds is still very keen on making a good Deadpool film and everyone knows that he’s the perfect dude for Deadpool. Though a little thing called Green Lantern came about and put a wrench in things. But, Green Lantern finishes filming soon, and what next? Well if Fox has their way, it’s another X-Men related film.
According to /Film. Fox has offered director extraordinaire Robert Rodriguez the chance to direct Deadpool. Apparently they’re liking what he’s been producing with Predators, and with him pulling away from the Weinsteins, Fox is looking to snag him up for themselves. Now dose this mean he’s going to direct Deadpool? Probably not. He was also offered the Planet of the Apes reboot, but passed. We know that Robert knows his comics, as his successfully directed an adaptation of Frank Millers Sin City. He’s been meaning to make a Madman film for years. Fox is releasing Machete this September, so the cards are there. Now is he the right guy for Deadpool? Maybe. Though I think there are better guys suited for the off the wall material of Deadpool. Rodriguez is a grand director, but he also has a dozen other original projects he’s been wanting to do for years, and now that Fox can afford him budget, perhaps he should be looking to do those first. Then again, he will probably just say “Thanks..but no thanks.”
