Rumor: Mark Ruffalo to step in as The Incredible Hulk

Hmmm, so not Joaquin Phoenix?

According to Deadline, the actor is in negotiations with Marvel to play the next Bruce Banner. There’s no telling if this is a rumor or not because there haven’t been any announcements yet for the upcoming Avengers movie Hulk-wise after Marvel kicked Edward Norton to the curb. I’m looking at you Comic-Con to keep me from believing every actors’ name brought up is attached to the project. But for now, let’s think seriously for a moment about Mark Ruffalo playing the role of The Hulk.

While it is not a bad choice, Ruffalo just does not seem to fit the role for me. I can’t quite place why he would even be involved in this. Perhaps I’m used to seeing him in serious movies like Zodiac, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Shutter Island, and countless indie films, like his recent flick, The Kids Are All Right. But then again, it’s not as if Marvel haven’t cast serious actors before especially with the other two recent Hulks, Norton and Eric Bana.  Who knows, maybe I’m over thinking it but I’ll just have to wait for more information.
