Trailer for PREDATORS is purposely misleading

I haven’t been lucky enough to catch the new Predators flick yet but some angry fans have.

I wouldn’t call myself a fan of the Predator franchise, heck, I’ve never even seen any of them, but ever since the trailer for Predators came out I’ve been itching to see it. It has a cool concept, it’s backed by Robert Rodriguez, and features a buff Adrien Brody…what more could I ask for? But the image that really sold me was the awesome shot of Adrien Brody standing frozen in fear while a sole Predator’s laser is pointed on him. Then, about a million more appear as well. I just about lost my mind at that part. Every time I saw it, it made me want to see this film even more and apparently I wasn’t alone. The title name alone got all fans excited to see multiple Predators and from the looks of that shot, about fifteen of them! But when ecstatic fans clamored into the theater they were in for a surprise: there are only three Predators preying on the group of unlucky humans.

So what the heck happened? Was the audience purposely mislead to believe that a lot more Predators were promised at a surely climatic part for the protagonists in the film? Many fans cried foul play but Robert Rodriguez claims what he pulled was all fair game. He told MTV.com:

“A lot of my movies have trailer shots that I shoot just for the trailer, so that people haven’t seen the movie already but they get the feeling of what it’s supposed to represent. It’s kind of a good twist to do that…If you go and you think that’s what it’s going to be, and then it’s not that and it ends up happening in another place in the movie.”

I call bull. What is it representing? The shot shows an estimated count of fifteen Predators, not three. According to audiences it was a major letdown when the part in the film came along and instead of seeing the multiple lasers, there was only a disappointing few. It ruined the shot and experience for anticipating moviegoers. You’re a cool dude Rodriguez, but that was a bitch move for the fans.
