TRANSFORMERS 3 characters identified and more!

transformers2I just knew it!

Seibertron posted today that Michael Bay’s site Shoot For The Edit administrator Nelson revealed in a post the identities of two characters from Transformers 3: one human, and one Autobot.  The red Ferrarri that everyone was speculating would be Hot Rod is not the impetuous, yet heroic, young heir to Optimus Prime’s throne, unfortunately.  His name is…ready for this?…Rush.  Yep.  Another new character.  Anyone else think they should have named the silver Corvette in TFs2 Bluestreak (or at least his latter-day name of Silverstreak?), and saved Sideswipe for this Ferrari?  I know I do.

As underwhelming as that is, this writer is absolutely reveling in glee that Rosie Huntington’s character has been confirmed as Carly.  This news will be also be underwhelming to anyone other than we Transformers fan boys.  Carly was Spike’s sort-of girlfriend (and eventual wife) in the old cartoon.  She was a smokin hot, yet preppie MIT student.  Chick could wear the hell out of a sweater vest, lemme tell you.  Anyway, as soon as Huntington was cast, I was hoping she would be Carly, for the sake of keeping things classic and O.G.  With this, and Prime finally getting his trailer, things are looking up for TFs3.  Oh, don’t get me wrong – it’s still gonna suck.  But at least I’ll have a few things to look forward to.

In further TFs3 news, it seems that Shockwave’s head has been spotted in the Chicago skylines!  Seibertron also reposted this pic from a message board of a very classic-looking cyclopean noggin hovering several stories up.  It is likely some sort of eyeline object (something for the actors to look at until ILM works their CGI voodoo), and doesn’t necessarily represent the final look of the character.  Still exciting stuff.  This means that, unlike the show (but very much like the comic), Shockwave will coming to our world.  Hilarity should ensue shortly thereafter.
