Kevin Smith began rolling film this week on Red State. His long, long in development “horror” film, that’s quasi based on the shenanigans of one mega fuckwad Fred Phelps. In his words, it’s not so much as a blood and guts horror film like Nightmare on Elm Street, but more psychological, akin to say, Rosemary’s Baby, sans Satanic sacrifice and Mia Farrow. With a cast made up of Michael Parks, Dermont Mulroney, Kayle Gallner, Kevin Pollack and Stephen Root, thats a lot of talent going on there, but Smith ain’t done. The list is still growing.
Today, Smith announced that he has added none other than the great John Goodman to his ever growing cast. No word on who he’s playing at the moment, but Goodman is a damn fine actor with a damn fine pedigree of films under his belt. If anything, Goodman is an instant sell for me on this film. I’d be seeing it if it wasn’t a Kevin Smith film now.
