by The HORROR Man

Its that time of year again kiddies. The nights get longer and things seem a bit spooky. So lets get down to the nitty gritty.
What films you should watch everyday this month? Well that’s why I’m here ya silly sack. I will lay down films that are a must to watch during the month of October. Everyday will be covered leading up to my ultimate flick to watch on Halloween night.
October 1st- Night Of The Living Dead (1968)
What a way to kick off this month. This film broke so many rules and is down right frightening even to this day. Director George A Romero went on to be the undisputed king of the undead after this film. Even tho it was shot in black and white, the film has so much depth and meaning that some view it as not even a horror film but a social commentary for our civilization itself.
There is no denying that it stands out as one of the best zombie films ever. Surprisingly the word “zombie” is never actually spoken during the film. The extras who portrayed the zombies were not even payed. That’s low budget, but the film doesn’t pull any punches. From exploding trucks to zombies feasting on human remains, the flick is pretty gruesome even for today’s standards.
Tom Savini even did a remake in 1991 that could not grasp the pure terror of the original. This flick is a great starter for October.
October 2nd-The Shining (1980)
All work and no play, make this movie an awesome spookfest. Stephen King’s book with the same name is down right bone chilling. But when it was brought to the movie goers by director Stanley Kubrick it took on a whole new level of fear.
Many people know the classic line “Here’s Johnny!” as Jack Nicholson smashes threw a door with an axe. You got blood flooding out of elevators, ghosts giving each other head, and two twin girls who made me crap my pants on first watch.
This is one film everyone should watch at least twice, once during the day and again with the lights turned out at night. The scares are not many but when they do happen, be prepared.
This film has great angles and awesome dialogue that is quoted even till today. The Simpsons even did a mock of it for Treehouse of Horror 3. So you know its classic.
Ok kiddies go watch these two flicks and I’ll be back tomorrow with another creature feature for you.
