Were getting down to the wire here people.

Did you really think I was going to leave out some of horror’s heavy hitters? For shame! In the style of my hero Joe Bob Briggs, I bring you my:

HORROR MOVIE MUST SEE MARATHONS! Sit back and enjoy all of the films in these horror franchises in one sitting…if you can stomach it that is.

SAW

saw-2-jigsaw Saw has dominated the month of October for seven long years. From its first film to the most recent, the franchise as a whole has changed the way we view horror films. Because of Saw we, as horror fans, want more blood, guts, and pain with our horror.

Remember the reverse bear trap? Or the classic shotgun marry go round. Who can for get in Saw II where a whole house of Jigsaws victims had to find the combination to the exit, but when they did realized it was written on each others heads! Classic.

Call this franchise Torture Porn, Gore, or Splatter, I could care less. All I know is Saw makes for great movie watching and still makes us cringe with delight.

FRIDAY THE 13TH

friday-the-13th-movieNow when I say Friday The 13th, I do of course mean the original franchise and not the recent reboot. Okay, so why does Jason Voorhees stick in our head and make us shudder with fear? Couple of answers pop into mind. 1. He’s huge, 2. He carries a machete like a baby would a bottle he loves it so much, and 3. He wont freaking die! Jason is one of the few slashers who takes a licking and keeps on ticking.

Admittedly after about the fourth sequel we get a bit tired of the hockey mask and silence from Jason. There are tho, some awesome gems as far as kills and nudity is the franchise.  I love this franchise and its easy to see why it has lasted the test of time with the fans. We love ya big guy and hope to see more of ya real soon.

A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET

freddy-krueger-a-nightmare-on-elm-street-1218920_1920_1200Now horror movie monster can match one, Freddy Kreuger when it comes to funny one liners and kills that make you sick. He was actually based on a true story Wes Craven read about a immigrant boy who died in his sleep mixed with a real life scary experience Wes had with a scary guy standing outside his bedroom window, and you get A Nightmare on Elm Street.

No other franchise is so loved by us horror fans than this one. Dreaming became a challenge after watching these films. No one I knew could sleep tight when Freddy Kreuger was present, who wanted too? Watch this video and you’ll see what I mean.
