Looks like things are getting under way for some of our favorite franchises as early as next month. The Spider-Man reboot from Sony (which is a desperate attempt to hold onto the franchise) will go before the cameras as early as next month. Marvel’s Avengers project being helmed by fanboy director Joss Whedon should begin filming in February provided all the budget concerns can be addressed and hammered out.
Principal photography on the final chapter of Christopher Nolan’s Batman franchise will begin in April of next year. Filming will take place in New Orleans, Louisiana. Apparently the reason for shooting in the big easy was the substantial tax incentives that were offered by the state. Including Green Lantern, that will make two DC movies that have now filmed there. I find it a bit strange that the decision has been made to film the final chapter in New Orleans, especially after the first two were shot in Chicago which is the definitive Gotham City. I’m not quite sure how you get Gotham City out of New Orleans, but I guess you just have to have faith that Chris Nolan will come through.
Lastly George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road will being shooting in summer 2011.
