Here we go again.
I had a chance to chat with a few folks from GBFans.com, the largest Ghostbuster fan website around, and their viewpoint on this new addition is very different from person to person. Some love the idea, some hate it, and others just wish there would be some concrete news regarding Ghostbusters 3. We found out some more rumors about the possible cast for this elusive film sequel. I just wonder what the guys over at GBFans.com will have to say about this.
(UPDATE) “Dan Aykroyd was on WGN Radio Chicago where he commented on these pesky rumors. He confirmed that they are casting and open to finding some fresh faces, adding that both Bill Hader and Anna Faris have been mentioned as “strong possibilities”, although it’s still too earlier to call. Aykroyd, who plays Dr. Raymond Stantz in the franchise, also mentioned Eliza Dushku’s name again, also confirming (what we already knew) that both Bill Murray and Sigourney Weaver are returning.”
Columbia Pictures is aiming at a May 2011 start date.
Word is that Sony are looking at three Saturday Night Live alumni to fill out the new team in the highly anticipated and finally confirmed threequel.. As we know know, Ghostbusters 3 is a sure thing for an Autumn(Fall) start and casting is said to be getting under-way soon in in Chicago, New York and Los Angeles. According to Whats Playing, auditions for “young male and female actors aged 18-30? are on the cards and they confirm that the film will feature a band of new, young recruits.
Apparently Anna Faris, Bill Heder and Will Forte are being looked at. The Faris rumor broke first, and Whats Playing then did some digging. A contact at Sony reported back..
“Dunno. First I’ve heard of it. Heard Will Forte’s name mentioned and Bill Hader, but not Faris. I’m not in on all that though, so she could be; [Sony] does like her”.
The original team of Dan Akroyd, Bill Murray, Ernie Hunson and Harold Ramis, along with Sigourney Weaver are all expected to make appearances too. If the above trio are in line for roles I guess it makes sense since most of the original cast started out on SNL back in the day. Of course one could argue that there was a slight(big?) difference in talent back in that day! Regardless, Faris is a fine comedic actress. The other 2 I could kinda take or leave but I guess they could do much worse too. What do you think?
