He who replaces Sean William Scott.

Having just wrapped on Red State, Kevin Smith is looking forward to getting that film distributed, and starting work on his next project.  Hit Somebody, based on a Warren Zevon song, a hockey film about the hey day of the goon league hocky back in the 70′s.  Originally, Sean William Scott was suppose to play the lead, but due to filming Red State, Scott had to bow out . To film another hockey movie called, Goon.  So this left Smith with out a leading man.  Well, it appears that Red State has provided Smith his next star.

On his weekly podcast with the great Ralph Garman, Hollywood Babble-On, Smith announced that Red State cast member Nicholas Braun has been cast in the lead.  After Smith dropped this tidbit, he also announced that Garman himself has a part in the film as well.  Braun is best known as the star of the excellent Disney superhero film, Sky High.  He’s appeared on the 10 Things I Hate About You tv series as well. Garman, who’s the entertainment reporter for LA rock morning show Kevin and Bean, has a role in Red State as well.  Smith sticks to his guns when it comes to actors in his films.

If you haven’t listened to Hollywood Babble-On, you’re doing your self a disfavor.  It’s  the funniest podcasts by a director and radio personality out there right now.
