Here’s a sequel we’re looking forward to!
Most of us here at the Realm were big fans of the 2008 action thriller Taken, starring Liam Neeson. Particularly, the unrated (re: European) cut of the film…watch for those nails in the thighs! We were hoped for a sequel, and when we got wind of Unknown, we thought that would have to suffice. After all, it’s a very similar film, and Neeson certainly seems to be taking the reins from Harrison Ford as the king of the “I want my family back” genre.
Doing promotion for Unknown, Neeson told MTV that he was pleasantly surprised by the success of Taken, and that plans were quietly underway for a sequel.
“I thought it was a good little B-movie when I first read it,” Neeson said of “Taken.” “I thought, ‘This is cool, very simple, maybe straight to video, but it’s a good little film, it’s a chance to do all that physical stuff.’ And then it just seemed to hit a pulse in people, it did very very well which I’m thrilled about and we’re hoping to do another one next year sometime.”
A script is being worked on, and the concerned parties are hoping to have a sequel – or rather, perhaps a prequel – completed for 2012. Yay!
