We now know who’s playing Lion-O and Panthro!
Actor Kevin Michael Richardson (The Cleveland Show) let slip during an interview with MTV that he was involved in the upcoming ThunderCats remake series (see the trailer here). It seems that Richardson – who claims to be a fan of the original show, and assures us that the new series will live up to it predecessor – will portray tough-guy Panthro.
“I must tell you, I love the original, and if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. But from what I’ve worked on already, I’m very impressed. I love Panthro, so to play him, yeah I’m very very happy. The state of the art animation they have today is… That’s exactly what it is — state of the art.”
Richardson also outed one of his fellow cast members, as well. Lion-O will be voiced by Will Friedle, who played the older brother on Boy Meets World, but also has experience in sci-fi action animation, including Batman Beyond (Terry McGinnis) and Batman: The Brave And The Bold (Blue Beetle).

This news follows the report that Larry Kenney, the original voice of Lion-O, will portray Lion-O’s father Claudius in the new series. We’ll bring you news of the rest of the cast as soon as we hear it. ThunderCats, ho!
