Fox renews BOB’S BURGERS for a second season

bobs-burgersNow this is news I can sink my teeth into.

I have been quietly enjoying the fairly new Fox animated series Bob’s Burgers for several weeks now, and I can be quiet no more.  I love, love, LOVE this show!  Created by Loren Bouchard (Dr. Katz, Home Movies, etc.), aided and abetted by King Of The Hill producer/writer Jim Deautrive, and featuring a terrific cast of voice actors including H. Jon Benjamin (Archer), Kristen Schaal (The Daily Show), and Eugene Mirman (Flight Of The Conchords), Bob’s Burgers is, in the writer’s opinion, the best thing to pop up on the airwaves in 2011.  It’s a great mix of standard family sitcom fare and edgy cartoon goodness, with semi-improvised pacing.

Alas, I’ve been hurt by short-lived shows, and my fear was that the show was destined for the Brilliant-But-Cancelled pile.  Yes, it’s been given the lucky Sunday night spot amongst Fox’s so-called Animation Domination block, but we’ve seen many things come and go in that field.  The simple fact that this is not a Seth McFarlane creation – I know, right? -  is refreshing enough.  Mixed critical reaction has been tempered by apparently good ratings, and Fox has decided, “What the hell?”, and renewed Bob’s Burgers for a second-season order of thirteen episodes.  This is great news, and allows me to fall deeper in love with this wacky show.  If you haven’t seen it, do so asap.  Stay home for once on a Sunday night (you damn heathen!), DVR it, whatever.  Then come back here, and post your thanks to me.
