Could Hawkeye and Black Widow solo shots be in our future?
According to IndieWire, while doing press for Thor, Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige is keeping his cards close to his chest – for now – about what’s to come in the post-Avengers window of 2013-2014. But he says announcements should come by the end of summer. Comic-Con, anyone?
While titles such as Dr. Strange, Black Panther seem like outside possibilities, and Edgar Wright has been working on a take on Ant-Man (who definitely won’t appear in Avengers, by the by), Feige says discussions with Scarlett Johansson on a Black Widow feature have already begun, and musings on possible Hawkeye (starring Jeremy Renner) and S.H.I.E.L.D. stand-alones have grown legs as well.
“There’s no definitive plans, but we have started talking and talking with Scarlett about what a Widow movie could be,” he said. “Internally we’ve also started thinking what a ‘Hawkeye’ movie could be, how we could continue to explore the organization [which Samuel Jackson‘s Nick Fury leads] S.H.I.E.L.D, which has a pretty big part in ‘Thor,’ smaller parts in the two ‘Iron Man’ films and has a giant part in ‘The Avengers.’ [So it’s like], what would a stand-alone “S.H.I.E.L.D.” be like? It all goes back to the comics. Sometimes the answer is—when looking at a certain run of issues— ‘no way’ and sometimes the answer is ‘maybe, let’s continue to explore it’ and certainly with Hawkeye and Black Widow those are two that we’re exploring.”
So a starring role for Sam as Fury? Throw in Clark Gregg’s Agent Coulson as well, and sign me up!
