Even I didn’t see this coming.
Now, before you read on, consider this MAJOR SPOILERS if you buy comics. So I’m going to jump down and if you peep anything after that, it’s all on you.
Ready:
The next comic character to get knifed that’s not Ultimate Peter Parker:

Hellboy
Yes, apparently at the end of the current Hellboy mini series The Fury, Hellboy is going to bite the dust. CBRtalked to his creator Mike Mignola and asked: WHY?
“I killed Hellboy once before, but he came back pretty quick,” the writer/artist explained. “I knew he was dead, and I was waiting for people to go, ‘Oh shit! Hellboy’s dead!’ But nobody seemed to notice. So this time we’re doing Hellboy’s death where you’ll go, ‘No. He’s dead, and he’s not coming back in 12 minutes.’ There was a little bit of work that had to go into that because this really is the end of him as that physical character that appeared in the very first issue. It’s a weird thing to do, but it’s fun.”
Now, this doesn’t mean it’s the end end of Hellboy, as in that universe there’s ghost and all sorts of other paranormal happenings. Also, B.R.P.D and Lobster Johnson are still running strong. But Mignola feels that it’s time to put ol horn heads aside for a bit. I haven’t caught up with the last few Hellboy runs as I had to curve my comic book buying, but I legit enjoyed Hellboy to no end. It was so weird and wacky not to love. I guess that means I’m going to have to catch up with back issues and start boning up on my B.R.P.D. from now on.
