We nerds know this book already without even reading a single page. But for you regular folk, I will break it down for you.

Quirk Books has finally made it possible for “regular” people to understand what we mean when we say “I have a bad feeling about this.” or “Don’t cross the streams.” Unlike music or even fashion, nerd culture has shaped mankind for centuries without you even knowing it. The “geek” shall indeed inherit the earth and this book is basically a crash coarse in nerd ways and customs.

Each chapter is loaded with quotes and sayings from various films, books, music, and TV shows. Then the fun happens. These are broken down into a basic philosophy anyone can understand. Whether it be on love, war, faith, or politics. This books covers all the bases and is a must for edward_scissorhands-copyany fledgling nerd or can be used as a “go to” tome for veteran geeks around the world. The illustrations by Mario Zucca are perfect and fit well throughout the book an are never over bearing.

I thoroughly enjoyed flipping though Geek Wisdom and reading the many philosophical approaches to life. It was a breath of fresh air. So much so I have already assigned half my non-geek friends to check it out or face punishment via hours of watching Ghostbusters.

Will Geek Wisdom redefine nerd culture for years to come? Probably not but this collection is a must have for anyone interested in learning the inner workings of that which is called geek. Truly, if you wish to know why we nerds have been picked on and made fun of for so many years, read Geek Wisdom and find out that all geeks may very well be created equal. Praise Gozer and may the force be with you, always.
