For a stardate 2013
Ok people. If you were a fan of the 2009 Star Trek film by JJ Abrams you can officially rest easy now. JJ Abrams has officially committed to directing part 2. Why is this big news? Because the bastard has been playing coy about it all year. While hard at work on the mediocre Super 8, people where hounding him about the status of Star Trek 2. Over and over again he just kept saying: “we’ll see”. In the mean time, the movies screenwriters Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci have been hammering away at a script, in between their duties on Fringe and Kurtzman’s directorial debut, Welcome to People. That film stars Neo Kirk himself, Chris Pine.
Production is set to begin some time around January. It appears that everyone is coming back, and that the Enterprise will be blasting off into some other adventure on a foreign planet. Again, I know there are a ton of people excited, but I can’t really muster any feelings about Star Trek. Just about everyone here at the Realmcast loved it, cept me. I kinda found it boring, but it had fantastic work by it’s outstanding cast. It was the same problem I had with Super 8. Great cast, boring film. It’s a quandary I can’t explain, but some how JJ Abrams manages to get great performances out of his cast, but can’t pace for shit. Even though Mission Impossible 3 was fantastic. I’m not sure what went wrong. Any way, Star Trek 2 is set to open sometime around 2013.
