Bullets will curve.. again!
Wanted. Awesome movie to some, guilty pleurae to others. Hated by many for it’s over the top zaniness. I personally love it. (And it is a bit of a personal film too) Well, the American debut of Russian director Timur Bekmambetov was a rousing success. Made on a modest 70 million dollar budget, it grossed over $340 million world wide. There has been talk ever since the summer of 2008 of another. Mark Millar, the writer of the book the film was loosely based on, has been saying the same thing.
Today, word has broke that the sequel is a go…. somewhat.
Universal has hired the first films writers to pen the script to Wanted 2. Derek Hass and Michael Brandt have been hired to write the new film, probably not based on anything Mark Millar has written. So far, it’s not known if any of the film’s original stars will be back. But again, if you’ve seen the film, that’s probably not going to be a problem. The other thing is that Timur has become quite popular since Wanted. He’s currently filming Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, and has a few other projects lined up after that. So no word if he’ll be returning or not either. That though, would be a damn shame, as he was responsible for the look and tone of the film. Watch Nightwatch and Daywatch (they’re on Netflix) to see what I’m talking about.
On a side note, Mark Millar announced via his website in adjacent to this news, that there are several other Millar World projects in the works. We know that Nemesis is one of Tony Scott‘s future projects, and god only know when or if Kick Ass 2 will ever see the light of day. But the man dose have other books out there, so I guess we’ll know what the hell he’s talking about in a few days.
