Hi folks. I apologize for missing out on a couple of weeks of Horror News. When you are a slave to certain furry rodent that resides in Orange County and your computer was possibly taken over by Skynet, well, it sort of makes things a little hard to report. Soinstead of one tidbit of news this time, lets take a look back at some things making headlines in the Horror Community. Now hopefully some of these things were picked up by our reporters here at Realm Cast in my absence, and if not, you’ll read about it here.
I reported earlier about Stephen King’s Epic, The Stand possibly making it to the big screen. It was reported that the writers who wrote the screenplay for the last few Harry Potter movies have been helmed to write the multi-movie storyline. Well, it looks like those rumors were true and The Stand is one step closer to becoming reality. Ben Affleck was just hired on to direct The Stand. I know, you are asking yourself “Ben Affleck?!”, but let’s give him a chance here. Sure, Phantoms pretty much sucked but he has grow lot since then. He did write and direct The Town which in all right was an outstanding movie!! Not only that, he’s good friends with writer/director Kevin Smith who just came off his first horror film Red State who I’m sure will lend a hand. Ben also produced the Project Greenlight film Feast, so Ben is no stranger when it comes to Horror. I for one am excited about this choice (and The Stand is my favorite book of all time)
The Walking Dead season 2 premiere broke records for a cable show. AMC has a winner on their hands. Even though the story writing has strayed far from the comic series, it still has a lot going for it. I for one loves where this series is going. It’s not the same old story I’ve gotten used to from being a fan of the comic series. Best thing yet is that Season 3 has just been confirmed!!!! Hopefully AMC execs will pull their heads out of their you know whats and give this show the funding it deserves. Mad Men has NOTHING on this show!!!
Rob Zombie’s Lords of Salem has gotten some more casting news. Already into filming, Zombie has announced new additions to the cast. Judy Geeson famous for the sixties To Sir, With Love as well as numerous TV roles from Gilmore Girls to Space:1999 and from A-Team to Tales of the Unexpected. She is also joined by Barbara Crampton known from Re-Animator and From Beyond. Peter Brady himself, Christopher Knight has joined on to play Kid Show’s Host Lobster Joe. If you have no idea who Chris Knight is…you need to kill yourself…I mean literally!! Ken Foree hops on as well. Ken is known from the original Dawn of the Dead as well as from one of my favorite films, The Devil’s Rejects. And ending the list of new additions is Lisa Marie (Not to be confused with The King’s Daughter Lisa Marie Presley/Jackson/Cage..or whatever). Lisa is known for her roles in Sleepy Hallow, Ed Wood, Mars Attacks as well as the crappy Tim Burton remake of Planet of the Apes.
In the “Just Give it Up” Category, Ving Rhames, who I absolutely loved in Pulp Fiction and Zak Snyder’s Dawn of the Dead remake, tackles zombie’s yet again in Syfy’s Zombie Apocalypse which premiers October 29th on Syfy. Ving in Dawn of the Dead was absolutely amazing but then thought he had scored in starring in Zombie Films went on to the abysmal Day of the Day remake (Which probably has George Romero already rolling in his grave even though he’s not even dead yet.) and now this film. Ving, just because it’s in the Zombie Genre doesn’t mean it’s going to be good. It’s all in the story writing and the directing. I’m afraid to watch this film…not because of the zombies but because that may be 2 hours of the life I will never get back.
You may have heard that Beavis and Butthead are making their glorious return to the airwaves. So what’s this have to do with horror? Well, the new show will not be making fun of videos anymore (Since MTV dropped the “M” which is supposed to stand for Music) but will instead be making fun of Pop Culture. The Premiere Episode has Beavis and Butthead witnessing the Twilight crapfest (Can you tell I freaking hate the series!!! Real Vampires don’t sparkle!!!!!) and venture out in the world to become vampires and/or werewolves so they can “score chicks”
Well folks, I would like to apologize for the delay in my Horror updates but unfortunately real life has to come and mess things up. I will be the special guest this week on the Monkey In The Cage podcast where we talk about what else but Horror for their special Halloween Episode. Tune in!!

I too work for the mouse and work graveyard at that! I had news columns up everyday on horror right here on The RealmCast.com. I never got to officially say hello/goodbye to you so this is my intro/exiting statement. Have fun writing horror news, really be creative and enjoy the people you work with. Look at some of my past articles to help ya out if necessary. Hope all works out for you.

Problem with getting something up everyday is that I’m a trainer for Tours and have been training non stop the past few weeks, meaning I working awkward hours lately. It would be great if I had set hours but alas I don’t. Not only am I doing this for George I also am part of the crew over at another site that is Disney related as well as a couple of paranormal groups. So getting something up every day isn’t going to happen. George knows this.
