Great day for Trek fans.
After a few weeks delay, Scratched Disc is back. And on a hell of a day for releases. Remember, if you peep anything you like, just click the link to Amazon. You get want you want, Amazon get’s their nugget, and we get to wet our beak a bit. Support all around.
With that, let’s begin.. shall we!
Being as we missed Scratched Disc last week I wanted to start off with our editor’s favorite release from last week.
REAL STEEL
Real Steel comes to Blu-ray/ DVD and does not disappoint. If you guys listen to the podcast then you know how much our editor, George loved Real Steel when it was released. It’s a movie that has heart and an underdog story that you can’t help but get sucked into.
STAR TREK: TNG The Next Level
This is both a blessing and a unimaginable cock tease for Trek fans. The Next Generation’s first Blu Ray release. Sadly, it’s not the first season. No, that’s later this year. But what you do get is a sampler platter of sorts of what’s being done with the show on Blu Ray. The digital remastering of picture and sound. This is also a fairly cheap package as well. Seeing as the full season sets are going to run you you’re first born’s blood, might as well dip your toes in the pool before you take the plunge.
DRIVE
One of the very best films of 2011. It’s not for everyone though. A tale of a get away driver who moonlights as a stuntman. His world is thrown off when he meets a woman in the apartment next door that ends up putting his life and everyone he knows in danger. Great cast, great direction from Nicolas Winding Refn. I personally can’t recommend it enough, but it’s not another Fast and Furious. More like a De Palma film from the 80′s.
IN TIME
Interesting concept, interesting movie. That’s all I can say about In Time.
THE THING
I thoroughly enjoyed The Thing. It’s a decent prequel, but Carpenter’s film is still the stronger of the two. That said, The Thing is still a pretty good sci fi horror flick. And it has Ramona Flowers and Joel Edgerton fighting shape shifting aliens. What’s not to love.
TRANSFORMERS TRILOGY COLLECTOR’S EDITION.
If, for some reason you want all THREE films, then this is for you.
ONE PIECE Collection 4
More Straw Hat shenanigans for you to enjoy.
That’s it for this week, come back next week for some Disney and anime titles.
