Yes, that’s the title of the new show. Arrow, formerly Green Arrow, has been shaping up at CW. The network has been confidant that they’re going to find a good replacement for the loss of Smallville. The men behind last summer’s Green Lantern, Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim along with Andrew Kreisberg are producing the show for the network.
Now that the pilot is a go, the team has decided on who’ll be donning
the green hood as Oliver Queen. That would be hunky actor Stephen Amell. Amell, who’s been on such CW shows as Vampire Diaries and the 90210 reboot, was also at one point the lead to take over the lead in Starz’ Spartacus series. If Arrow, as it’s called now, is picked up, it’ll be his biggest career gig yet.
As I’ve said before, I’m not expecting much out of this. Arrow isn’t connected with Smallville, which had Oliver Queen as a regular character already, nor are they going for a full on version from the comic book. I’m expecting a crap ton of melodrama over a relationship that won’t come to terms till the fourth season at least, and mediocre fighting and special effects at best. Which is sad as the comic Green Arrow is one of the best asshole comic characters ever. But, again, it’s all going to stem if this get’s picked up in the first place, or becomes a thing of Torrent fodder.
