One week has passed since one of the best comic book conventions I have ever attended came to a close and during that time I have been tangled in a web of reflection. As always, I chalk it up to Post-Traumatic-Con-Disorder (an affliction that attacks those of us with a black belt in Nerd Fu) and ride out the withdrawal symptoms by perusing the mass quantity of photos I snapped on the show floor. The booths and celebrities lurking about are a big part of the fun but I am always more fascinated by the cosplayers. I am a large mammal and walking around these events for a few days can cause my feet to rebel against me and I sweat like Lindsay Lohan awaiting her court-ordered drug test results so I can’t imagine doing any of it in a costume and makeup, much less a mask! It takes a great deal of dedication and guts to put yourself out there like cosplayers do and I admire them for that. As a tribute to these people (and a way to curb my PTCB symptoms) I would like to share some of the amazing costumes I saw. Here are some of my personal favorites…
I may have to surrender my Nerd membership card for admitting this but I don’t know who this character is. I do know that the costume is fantastic and one of the first I saw at WonderCon…
I love this mix of “old school” and “new school” Star Wars characters…
Sure, he has a thick brogue but who knew Chewie was Irish?
This one cracked me up! “Bring us…a shrubbery!” (A Monty Python film-favorite…)
Sometimes the planets align and two souls unite as one; When Gonzo Met Yoda
These volleyball cosplayers confused me! (Actually, there was a tournament going on in the convention center during WonderCon but I couldn’t resist.)
The photo doesn’t do him justice, but this is one of the best Darth Mauls I have ever seen…
Here’s my pick for Best Costume of WonderCon – Optimus Prime
This Bane was too funny…
That was just a sampling of the cosplayers I spotted at WonderCon. I applaud everyone who donned a costume and walked the floor last weekend. There you have it. Some highlights of the cosplay scene at WonderCon. I am seriously jonesin’ for the next con on my schedule but wearing these Spiderman jammies is really helping to take the edge off…um…just kidding?

Well stated LA Luke.
