What was once a fledgling Kickstarter project has now become a reality as the documentary, Plastic Galaxy: The Story of Star Wars Toys, has surpassed its $3000 fundraising goal and will be released on DVD in August.
The film’s director, Brian Stillman, is an avid Star Wars fan (Original Trilogy) and toy collector whose office is filled with vintage robots and ray guns. He also, of course, has a Star Wars collection of his own and through dozens of interviews with “former Kenner employees, experts, authors, and collectors, the film examines the toys’ history, their influence on pop culture, and the fond and fervent feelings they elicit today.”
I, for one, am waiting for this film with great anticipation and can almost hear the hum of the hyperdrive motivator in my vintage Millennium Falcon, circa 1980, as it powers up for the jump to light speed!! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaagh!!!
Sorry, I just passed out. These nerd seizures can be brutal. I need to clear my head. Where’s my damn lightsaber?
