Dragon’s Lair on XBLA is rocking nostalgia big time
“Haven’t heard of Dragon’s Lair?! Well, you play the heroic Dirk the Daring, a valiant knight on a quest to rescue the fair princess from the clutches of an evil dragon! Use the touchpad to control the actions of the daring adventurer, finding your way through the castle of a dark wizard, who has enchanted it with treacherous monsters and obstacles. In the mysterious caverns below the castle, your odyssey continues against the awesome forces that oppose your efforts to reach the dragon’s lair.”
Don Bluth’s Classic Dragon’s Lair is returning once again to another system. It has been ported to over 60 different devices but now Microsoft Games Studios & Digital Leisure have announced that it’s coming to Xbox Live Arcade. Many improvements and features have been added to the game which can clearly be seen from the trailer released. The best feature is the Kinect compatibility, in which now players can actually control Dirk the Daring with there own movements by responding to on-screen prompts with the correct motion, you can also still play the game with a controller for those without Kinect. Another feature is the ability to take and send pictures via Kinect Photo Share to capture all those great action shots of yourself. Co-Op play also will be featured. A firm date or price hasn’t been confirmed for the game.
Not much else has been mentioned as of this time. Watch the trailer to see the new features. This game is a classic; I remember playing it on the original NES and theArcade. Dragon’s Lair was put out for the Wii a year or 2 ago but this is the first time it will be ported to a true next gen system. I for one cannot wait to get this game.
