What?!? The Avengers on the chopping block on the eve of one of the greatest movies of the year?
I thought things were going all hunky dory for The Avengers: EMH cartoon on Disney XD. This show is currently one of the best things on TV at the moment. Filled with all the ingredients that made Justice League great: Strong storytelling, well developed characters and it’s not particularly kiddy (but not over the top adult).
Simply: Great.
According to CBM, who has complied a wide variety of claims and statements, Avengers as we know it might not make it to season 3. Apparently Jeph Loeb isn’t keen on the over arching story telling, hence a change to the structure midway through season 2. But with Ultimate Spider-Man already using a version of the Avengers, there’s an inkling that a new Avengers show will be tied into that universe as well.
Now before you go throwing tomatoes and feces at Jeph Loeb, Topless Robot has backed several of the claims made by CBM, but has brought to light possibly the real reason there’s talk of shit canning EMH for a newer, perhaps more kid friendly show: What reason could that be?

Turns out, The Avengers isn’t doing that well. It’s second season just started, mashed up with the Ulimate Spider-Man in the Marvel block on Disney XD. Seems that Avengers might be weighing down the programing block a bit. If things don’t shape up, changes will be made. Since there’s both an Avengers movie and a new Spider-Man movie coming out this year, Marvel wants their properties to stay in the limelight. Best way to do so: Cartoons. Keep them kids happy and buying toys and comics.
So where does this leave Avengers: EMH? Will it suffer the fate of another unbeliveably fantastic Marvel show, ie- Wolverine and the X-Men? Possibly, unless shit changes people. Way to do that: Just watch the show when it airs. Watch the repeats. Buy the damn single edition dvds instead of waiting for what will probably not be a single season dvd set. Otherwise, say good bye to The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes as we know it.
