When Johnny Depp says to Tim Burton “We should do a vampire movie” it gets done. A new Dark Shadows video was released featuring Depp and Burton and showcases their love of classic vampire movies like Nosferatu and Dracula. We even get a hint of the bleeding and de-fanging that Barnabas goes through to become human again. *squee*
Eight short clips were also released featuring Barnabas and his interactions with his family.

To all the naysayers out there I say one thing, this movie is pure gold. This is not a ooh scary vampire movie nor is it a sappy teeny-bopper vamp love story. It’s campy because it’s set in the 70′s but it’s more like watching the Dracula movies from the 60′s and 70′s — campy with some horror and a touch of a love story. Don’t forget this is a Tim Burton movie with all of it’s quirky, gothic madness. Burton’s Dark Shadows reminds me a Scooby Doo movie come to life in the way of colors and sets, but the story is pure Dark Shadows mythology and no one could play a better Barnabas than Depp unless it was the late Jonathan Frid himself.
Dark Shadows opens May 11.
