Brought to you by Shawn Levy and the letter M.
I hear some of you groaning, I hear some of you jumping for joy. I hear the rest of you giving out a major “what?” sound. But it’s true. 20th Century Fox, along with the Sesame Workshop and producer Shawn Levy (Real Steel) have signed on to make a big screen Sesame Street film. This will mark the third time the beloved children’s show makes it’s appearance on the big screen. The first two being Follow that Bird and Elmo in Grouchland.
Long time Sesame Street writer Joey Mazzarino will be working on the script for the film. No word on what the movie will feature, but I’m hoping for a full length anthology film, with a Big Bird/Snuffleupagus wrap around story, and at least a new Tiny Little Super Guy segment where he fights off decorative plates and teaches some small Dixie cup about the meaning of sharing.
The Muppets did well in my opinion in their return to the big screen, seeing that the talent from the show is involved, I have no worry that Sesame Street is going to fare any worse.
