Matt Damon looks haggard in this image from ELYSIUM

And angry.

Besides Pacific Rim, the other film I’m very curious about at Comic Con this year is Elysium.  The sophomore film from Neill Blomkamp, director of District 9.  Pretty much besides the cast of Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, Wagner Moura, Sharlto Copley and Alice Braga, and this synopsis, there isn’t much on the film out there.  I expect that to change after next Friday.  Footage is expected to screen from the film along with the normal hoopla of having the cast there as well.  But EW’s Comic Con issue has this image of Damon from film film, sporting what looks to be the new standard in Blomkamp tech.

I like it.  Damon looks haggard as fuck and if you read the synopsis, has a bit of Battle Angel going on in it (Go look up Battle Angel if you a have no idea what I’m talking about)

In the year 2159 two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes (Jodie Foster), a hard line government official, will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max (Matt Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.

Elysium opens March 1st
