But it’s not canon by any stretch.
Fanboys might not have exactly set the world on fire after it’s troubled release, but it was a nice little fun film about fandom. It’s director, Kyle Newman, clearly loves Star Wars and it looks like he’s getting another chance to indulge in his love with, wait for it, a biography movie about Peter Mayhew, Chewbacca himself.
Titled: Chewie, the film will focus on Mayhew’s life as he worked on the first Star Wars film. It was a black list script written by Evan Susser and Van Robichaux. Newman went above the script and secured the life rights from Mayhew to get a little deeper into the story.
Now, who the hell do you get to play the 7’3 British actor? Brad Garretts name keeps creeping up on me for some reason. It will be interesting to see what can be told of Mayhew’s life pre Star Wars, as post, well he became a bit of an icon.
When will we see this finally come to light, time’s only going to tell on that.
