Warner Premiere shuts down

……………………..WHAT!

This came out of nowhere.  Word broke tonight that Warner Bros. is shutting down their Warner Premiere division.  For those not in the know, Warner Premiere is Warner Bros.’ home video division.  The company has released a slew of low budget sequels to Warner Bros. films including Ace Ventura Jr, Free Willy 3 and the Dukes of Hazard prequel.  But, more importantly they’re the distributor for the DC animated films.

The studio cites decline in the home video industry as the reason of the shuttering.  Employees will be reassigned to other departments after the remaining titles under the banner are released.  Among those titles?  The Dark Knight Returns parts 1 and 2.  So what the hell does this mean?  I haven’t the foggiest.  This might mean the end of the DC animated films in their current format.  Warner’s still has an animated division, but will we continue to see the PG13 adaptations of some of our most favorite comic stories?

Well keep you up to date as details break.
