Left Field News: TRANSFORMERS and JLA almost crossed over

Yes, you read correctly.

Next year, Archie is having Sonic and Mega Man cross over.  In the past, Spider-Man has met Batman,  Superman fought Aliens, and hell even Archie himself has teamed up with The Punisher.  The wacky world of crossovers are such a wonderful thing sometimes.  They play out like official fan fictions when good, and morbid what the fuck moments for the terrible ones.

Phil Jimenez had an idea for one that sounded so out there that it might have just worked.  The man in question took to Twitter last night to show off some artwork for his pitch for a Transformers/ Justice League crossover.  Yes, Transformers and Justice League could have crossed paths, and OPTIMUS PRIME WOULD HAVE BEEN A GODDAMN GREEN LANTERN!!!!

“Oh, what an epic that would have been,” Jimenez wrote last night on Twitter, saying to one follower, “You missed out on Wonder Woman’s invisible jet becoming a very cool Transformer.” You can get a peek of that in the image above, along with an enormous Bat-former and, perhaps best of all, Optimus Prime as a Green Lantern. (He added this morning, “Giving credit where credit is due: the idea for Optimus Prime as a GL was none other than [IDW Publishing Editor-in-Chief Chris Ryall's].”

A crossover of this magnitude could have shattered reality as we know it!  Wonder Woman’s jet being a transformer.  Superman going toe to toe with Megatron.  The philosophy smackdown of Optimus (with Green Lantern ring) and Batman combined!

My head is swimming.

Sadly, this will never come to pass.  As DC TURNED IT DOWN!  One conspiracy theory as to it never seeing the light of day is due to Hasbro owning the Transformers rights and Mattel having the DC license.  Either way, money  was sadly lost this day.

Before the story is over, this last piece of art was released.  It kinda explains its self.
