PAX 2012: Techland has announced PROJECT HELL

Brand new IP from Dead Island developers.

Dead Island developer Techland has announced that they are developing a brand new IP,  entitled Project Hell. Techland have also set up a blog detailing the ongoing development of the title at Sharpenyouraxes.com

Combining the fighting mechanics of Dead Island and adding magic (literally) we created a powerful mixture – a dark fantasy FPP hack’n’slash. We want to travel back to the times when enemies were really hideous and repulsive, the fights were brutal and bloody and the gameplay was challenging and rich with secrets waiting to be uncovered.

Not much information has been released for Project Hell but Techland did release some awesome concept art for environments, monsters and weapons.

“Here is a concept of the torture hall. It was made by Julian Wicik, The art below shows a hall at the end of a level. It’s going to be the most spacious room in this part of the game where the player will fight against a gigantic boss – that’s why we’ve chosen the coaxial layout and design based on medieval cross-vaults.”

This art is of the Swap:

This art is of the Prison:

“It’s time to show you our first monster. We’re currently working on the 3D model based on this concept but still searching for the right weapon to match this guy’s image.”

Here are some concepts of the Necromancer – one of our enemies in the game that is bound with dark magic. This opponent may look skinny and weak but don’t let his appearance deceive you. Reviving fallen creatures and casting powerful buffs, this guy can be a real pain in the ass.

Fans can go to Project Hell’s  Facebook profile HERE and vote which of these concepts is the best one.

There isn’t a lot of information about the game so far, No platforms have been announced or a release date. Keep checking back here for more info as it’s released.
