A couple of goodies showed up on the interweb over the last couple of days. Set photos from The Wolverine (currently filming in Japan & Australia) revealed the first shot of the Silver Samurai armor as well as the first shots of Wolverine’s claws being unleashed. The claws you see are not coming out of Hugh Jackman’s hands, but rather his stunt double. From what we could find out the scene involves Wolvie fighting off a bunch of ninjas who scurry once the claws come out.
The Silver Samurai/ Kenuichio Harada is played by Will Yun Lee (Witchblade, Elektra, Red Dawn).
Some of you not-so-die hard comic book movie fans may be wondering who the hell the Silver Samurai is. His a bit of info on his powers so you can see what Wolverine will be up against.
The Silver Samurai is a mutant with the ability to generate a tachyon field, with which he can surround anything. He commonly uses his power on his sword, enabling it to cut through nearly anything, except adamantium. As a self-styled samurai, he is a master of Kenjutsu (katana), and a martial arts master specializing in edged weapons, hand to hand combat, and tactics. He usually wears a suit of lightweight steel alloy body armor, modeled after traditional samurai armor, but made of modern protective materials. He carries a katana (long sword), shuriken (throwing stars), and other weaponry.
