Now that DC owns Superman.
Yesterday, a California Judge ruled in favor of Warner Bros/DC in the legal battle over the rights to Superman with the Shuster family. That case, which has been ongoing for a while now, was part of the reason Warner Bros rushed into production on Man of Steel (and may or may not be one of the key reasons for the New 52 reboot). Because if the court had ruled that the Shuster’s could claim their part of the copyright to the character of Superman, it would have meant that DC would have had to fork over more money to use the man of steel and that any multi-media projects featuring him would be controlled by the Shuster family. (Which was the sinister plot all along it seems)
Now that DC/Warner’s has full control of Superman once again, their master plan of the Justice League film can now get underway. There’s a script being written by Will Beall, writer of Gangster Squad, and Warner’s aims to use the film as a launching point for Flash, Wonder Woman, and a rebooted Batman. A summer 2015 date is being eyed, which would mean its going against Avengers 2. So it’s going to be a massive slug fest, super hero orgy that summer. The winner? Us hopefully.
