Will it’s producer step in?
This.. shouldn’t be shocking but it is. Matthew Vaughn has exited as director of X-Men Days of Future Past. The man responsible for breathing new life into the X-Men franchise has decided, AGAIN, to step away from an X film deep into pre production. He did this with X Men The Last Stand. That film was famously taken over by Brett Ratner at the 11th hour.
Reports say that Vaughn is going to be moving on to an adaptation of Fox Marvel guru Mark Millars Secret Service. Now, Fox has a hard date of July 18th 2014 for the next film, and production is suppose to start in January. Who directs? Word is that Bryan Singer, who WAS suppose to direct First Class, might step in and take over. This wouldn’t be the worst thing, as the first two X-Men films were pretty good. It’s just that Vaughn brought so much.. life, to the X-Men series that Singer couldn’t. And then there’s the whole Superman Returns debacle. Perhaps Days of Future Past could be Singers redemption if he takes over.
More on this as it breaks
