…which apparently now is only a Holloween Special and no longer a series?
That’s right boys and girls, you read correctly. Here’s the bad news first. THR is reporting that due to what is basically tinkering by the new studio head that came into power in 2011 and resulting differing opinions about the stylized look & feel of the pilot from writer Bryan Fuller (Pushing Daisies) and director Bryan Singer.
At this time NBC is looking to try and salvage the $10 million dollars they’ve already sunk into this reboot/ re-imagining after 2 years of development. You can read the full details here. The interesting thing to see is what NBC will do if this (now) Halloween Special does well enough to reconsider the original plan to develop a series. Even if this scenario were to happen though it’s likely Singer & Fuller would walk away given what happened just in trying to get this pilot completed. Besides Fuller has the Hannibal series to keep him busy and Bryan Singer has all that X-Men money to play with
