And we know the role of the lead.
I’m getting light headed from all this Godzilla news. I can hardly contain myself. Each passing tidbit makes me as giddy as a schoolgirl. During a press conference today, Warner Bros laid out some plot points to their co production of Godzilla. Chud got the skinny on the following:
- The film will feature more than one monster, confirming that two new monsters will also be wreaking havoc – this in addition to the big green guy.
- Warner Bros. made it clear that their interpretation of the material “follows the story of a solider” and is “way different” than the Toho Godzilla films.
At first glance it sounds simile to James Stokoe’s Godzilla Half Century War. Perhaps one of the finest Godzilla stories told in any medium. I recommend you go out and get it if you can. But I’m guessing that Thomas Tull, when he got a hold of Godzilla, had a vision of what he wanted. And a Godzilla movie isn’t something without Godzilla facing off against an opponent of some sort. Toho knows this. The original film and Godzilla 1985 were the only films to feature Big G on his own. Plus, more monsters = more merchandise. Part of the aspect of Godzilla is he SELLS! And kids of all ages are going to want some monsters for Godzilla to womp on. Just a matter now of what monsters we’re going to see.
Godzilla opens May 14th 2014
