Mary Jane. Out?
- Interesting news today about the cutting of Shailene Woodley from The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Woodley played Mary Jane, in what many thought was the set up for part 3. With the news of Sony putting a date for a Amazing Spider-Man 4, seems plans have changed. Woodley, who is the lead of an upcoming YA Hunger Games like adaptation called Divergent. If the movie is a success, the other books in the series will be adapted, thus taking Woodley away. It would have been an issue Fox faced with Jennifer Lawrence with X-Men and Hunger Games. So now, no Mary Jane, and it seems that Woodley might be recast. The girl was after all almost 10 years younger than Andrew Garfield, so I can easily see a recast now that Peter is out of school in the films.
- In other interesting news, an apparent, legit casting breakdown for characters for the new Star Wars movie was leaked on to the web. Lucasfilm apparently stated that the call sheet was real. It’s leading to believe that we might see a true female protagonist in the new films. Everyone is still thinking Han and Leia’s daughter. I don’t see that happening though.
-Lock and Key might not have gone through as a series, even though the pilot was hailed as brilliant. But the book has found new life as a film at Universal, under Bob Orci and Alex Kurtzman, who worked on the pilot.
- Now that Michael Bay is doing one last Transformers film, could he finally be giving into fan demand? Or simply not caring anymore? This truck that looks a lot like the cartoon Optimus was sighted on the set of Transformers 4 today. Curiouser and curiouser.
