Hey, another new column! One that I’ll hopefully keep up on. This column is a place were I or other members of staff will be putting in some heads up for sweet DVD’s that we think you should peep. I’ll post every Monday before new release when I can.
With out further a due:
May 12th:
TAKEN:
HOLY SHIT! I got a copy of this last year and have been singing the praises of this beyond awesome movie. When it finally hit the states, I was torn. While I was happy that it did incredible business, which meant not only did the public see this fantastic revenge flick, but it also got some exposure for Pierre Morel, director of the kick ass parkour film DISTRICT B-13. I was sadden to find out though, that the American release was chapped down a bit. A lot of the violence was removed, including an incredible scene involving a pair metal spikes. Fortunately for us, the DVD release is the uncut euro version. Believe me, there is nothing better than watching Liam Neeson killing and throat chopping his way through Paris.
UNDERWORLD: RISE OF THE LYCANS
The third in the Underworld series, and the third ORIGIN movie this year. This time we see what started the feud between the euro trash goth vamps and the grungy lycans. Lara Croft model and Doomsday babe Rhoa Mitra fills in for the chick that Kate Beckinsale was suppose to look like. Micheal Sheen, fresh off of FROST/NIXON returns as Lucian, the werewolf that started all this shit. AND BILL FUCKING NIGHY, returns as Vicktor, and chews scenery like it was cheerios. Not an Oscar film, but a fun film.
SETH MACFARLANES CAVALCADE OF CARTOON COMEDY
This is the collection of the YOUTUBE shorts that Seth MacFarlene put together. Think of it as all the cut away jokes with out the Family Guy story.
GALAXY QUEST: SPECIAL EDITION
A fantastic film. Now that Star Trek is out, and is terribly overrated, maybe you should check out this brilliant riff on geeky fandom.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Season 7 vol. 1 – 4
The season that TMNT started to lose its luster. This started the Turtles euro trip, and brought the full comedy aspect of Shredder and Krang to front, until Season 8 when they were all but dropped. Personally, the show holds a special place in my heart, but nothing will ever compare to the first season.
THE BEST OF RVD TV
I’m about the only wrestling fan on here, and no one can compare to the WHOLE F”N SHOW. This is a rare glimpse into the king of extremes personal life after WWE.
That’s all for this week. We’ll be back next week with some more goodies for you to open your wallet to!

I’m an unabashed Family Guy lover. Yes, this show takes shit for some its no plot episodes and random jokes that have little to do with what little of plot there is, but goddamn, if I don’t laugh my ass off every week. Family Guy has been charging full steam ahead for the last 2 seasons, with the Time Travel episode were Brian and Stewie go back to WW2 to save Mort Goldman being among the finest they’ve ever produced.
Now, comes word from Empire that creator and all around atheist Seth MacFarlane confirms that work has indeed begun on a full length feature film. No word when it will start production, as its little more into the writing stage.
This would technically be the second “MOVIE” with the Family Guy: Stewie Griffin, the untold story, being the first. Though it was more or less 3 episodes put together as one, much like the recent Futurama DVD movies. But honestly, who cares, as we don’t have to wait 18 years like we did for The Simpsons.
I pray to all mighty Xenu that this will at least be of SOUTH PARK: BIGGER LONGER AND UNCUT quality.
